Angie Stone, the Grammy-nominated R&B singer renowned for hits like “Wish I Didn’t Miss You,” tragically passed away at 63 in a car accident on March 1, 2025. The accident occurred in Montgomery, Alabama, as Stone and her band were traveling to Atlanta following a performance in Mobile. Their Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van overturned and was subsequently struck by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 65. Stone was the sole fatality among the nine individuals involved. 
Born in Columbia, South Carolina, Stone began her illustrious career in the late 1970s with the pioneering female hip-hop trio, The Sequence. The group is celebrated for their hit “Funk You Up,” which holds the distinction of being the second rap single ever released by a female group.
