Kwa-Thema, Gauteng – Just hours before the funeral of EMPD officer Banele Sikhosana, police arrested his wife, who is accused of hiring a hitman to orchestrate his murder.
Murder-for-Hire Plot Uncovered
Sikhosana was fatally shot last Friday while opening his tuck shop in the Rest in Peace section of Kwa-Thema. After days of investigation, police arrested a hitman, Nhliziyozabantu Magwanyana, at Kwa-Thema Hostel on Monday night following a tip-off.
Hitman Confesses
After being apprehended, the hitman confessed to working with Sikhosana’s wife. He revealed that he had been hired to kill the officer and that the final payment was made after the murder.
Previous Murder Attempt: Food Poisoning
Authorities and family members have disclosed that this was not the first attempt on Sikhosana’s life. His wife allegedly tried to poison his food just a week before the fatal shooting, but he survived.
One More Suspect on the Run
Acting EMPD Chief Julius Mkhwanazi confirmed that one more suspect is still at large but assured the public that police are closing in on the individual.
Court Appearance Scheduled
The arrested suspects are set to make their first court appearance on Monday at the Springs Magistrate’s Court.
