Mpumalanga – Growing concerns have been raised about the treatment of patients at Msogwaba Clinic in Piennar, with allegations of unprofessional conduct by some nurses, particularly towards male patients.
Thabiso Matsane, a resident of Piennar, recently took to social media to voice his frustration, accusing a nurse identified as Nomsa Shilane of disrespect and negligence. According to Matsane, Shilane refused to close the consultation room door despite his request, citing the heat as a reason.
He further highlighted a pattern of mistreatment towards men at the clinic, stating that male patients who express concerns about pain are often dismissed.
"In Piennar (Msogwaba) Clinic, a man mustn’t complain about pain. They say you are a man. So, men don’t have feelings?" Matsane wrote.
Following his public complaint, more residents have come forward, expressing similar frustrations but stating that many are too afraid to report such incidents.
Pear Malapane and Sasekani Manzini, other concerned individuals, have echoed these sentiments, calling on the Mpumalanga Department of Health to urgently address the matter.
Community members are urging health authorities to investigate patient complaints, enforce professional conduct among staff, and ensure that all patients—regardless of gender—receive dignified and confidential healthcare.
The Mpumalanga Department of Health has yet to comment on these allegations. Patients are encouraged to report misconduct to the Office of Health Standards Compliance (OHSC) or the Mpumalanga Health Hotline (0800 204 098).
