Nathaniel Julies Trial Postponed Due to Missing Transcripts

Palm Ridge – The highly anticipated trial of the police officers accused of the 2020 killing of Nathaniel Julies has been postponed to 26 February 2025 due to missing court transcripts.

The case, currently being heard at the Palm Ridge Magistrates’ Court, hit a procedural setback after it was discovered that 32 days’ worth of transcript pages had not been captured and compiled. This crucial evidence is necessary for both the prosecution and defense to prepare their closing arguments.

State Prosecutor Johan Badenhorst requested the postponement on behalf of the defense lawyers, who argued that proceeding without the full court records would compromise their ability to present a fair case.

The accused, Caylene Whiteboy and two others, remain out on bail and have been ordered to appear in court on the newly scheduled date.

The delay has sparked frustration among supporters of the Julies family, who have been seeking justice for the 16-year-old boy with Down syndrome, who was fatally shot by police in Eldorado Park in 2020.

The trial continues to draw national attention, with community members and activists closely monitoring developments.
