Johannesburg, Gauteng – A local motorist, Themba Tom Ntulu, took to Facebook to share a heartwarming encounter with a Metro Police Officer and a SANRAL tow truck driver, who came to his aid when his vehicle unexpectedly stalled in the middle of N1 peak-hour traffic.
Ntulu's car ran out of fuel due to a faulty fuel gauge, leaving him stranded and uncertain about what to do next. However, an unnamed Metro Police officer quickly stepped in to assist.
A Swift and Selfless Act
According to Ntulu, the officer:
- Parked behind his vehicle, placed cones on the road, and began directing traffic to ensure safety.
- Checked on Ntulu’s well-being and diagnosed the issue as a fuel problem.
- Called for assistance and arranged for a SANRAL tow truck to transport the vehicle to the nearest petrol station—completely free of charge.
- Reassured Ntulu while they waited, telling him to relax and not to worry.
Within 30 minutes, the SANRAL truck arrived, towed the car to a nearby station, where a helpful petrol attendant assisted Ntulu in refueling his vehicle so he could continue his journey home.
A Message of Gratitude
Ntulu expressed his deepest appreciation, saying, "We live with angels among us! My biggest regret is not memorising the officer’s name. Whoever you are, thank you, Sir! And a big thank you to the SANRAL guy and the petrol attendant!"
His story has since gained traction online, with many praising the Metro Police Officer’s kindness and the efficiency of SANRAL’s roadside assistance service.
