HMR News Updates has just received word of a devastating accident involving a scholar transport microbus and a Hyundai Getz in Springs this morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred at approximately 08:05 AM when the microbus, carrying around 10 school children from Pollak Park Primary School, attempted to overtake traffic on the barrier line, colliding head-on with the Hyundai Getz driven by a female motorist with her child on board.
Emergency services were quickly summoned to the scene, and paramedics rushed to attend to the injured parties. The drivers of both vehicles sustained serious injuries, while all the school children were transported to N17 hospital for observation. Thankfully, there have been no reported fatalities.
Eyewitnesses reported that the microbus driver was treated with a silverfoil emergency blanket to keep him warm due to the chilly conditions.
The Ekurhuleni Metro Police have urged motorists to exercise extreme caution and patience on the wet roads, citing the frequent collisions in the area.
