Matlhako Village, Vryburg – The community is in mourning following the tragic discovery of 16-year-old Boingotlo Prudy Makaota, a Grade 10 learner at Maatla Secondary School. Her lifeless body was found buried in a shallow grave in a nearby bush on January 11, 2025. The body was wrapped in a blanket and bore injuries to the head, legs, and thighs.
Witnesses report that the alleged perpetrator was often seen in the company of Makaota, with the two frequently smoking together. On the day of the incident, community members observed the suspect pushing a wheelbarrow under suspicious circumstances. Unbeknownst to them, he was allegedly transporting Makaota’s body to conceal it.
The tragic loss of this young life has left the community devastated, prompting calls for justice and increased safety measures for vulnerable individuals.
