Young Teacher Forced Out of Home After Husband's Death

In a tragic turn of events, Nandipha Mabuye, a 37-year-old teacher based in Emelo, has been forced to leave her home following the death of her husband. Nandipha, who relocated for work, had been married for five years before her husband passed away recently.

According to reports, the late husband had previously been married to another woman, Miss Mashaba, with whom he purchased a piece of land. The land was registered under Miss Mashaba's name. The couple separated before building on the land, leaving only a shack behind. After meeting Nandipha, the late husband and she began constructing a 10-room house on the same land.

Their life together flourished, blessed with a daughter, Sbahle, and a stable job for Nandipha as a teacher. However, their happiness was cut short when the husband fell ill and passed away on Christmas Day.

Following his death, Miss Mashaba returned, claiming ownership of the land with legal documents in hand. The dispute was taken to the traditional chief, who ruled in favor of Miss Mashaba. Nandipha then pursued the matter in small claims court, where the magistrate upheld the previous ruling, stating that the land legally belonged to Miss Mashaba.

Despite her efforts, Nandipha lost the case and was given 30 days to vacate the property. In a heartbreaking statement, Nandipha expressed her regret for not verifying the land's ownership but accepted the court's decision. "I will leave the house, although it’s not easy leaving my sweat and power with my husband," she said.

Nandipha’s mother-in-law, Mama Julia, has offered her a place to stay while she sorts out her future. "You knew how to build 10 rooms; you can still build another one in God's name," Mama Julia encouraged her.

The story highlights the importance of understanding legal rights and property ownership, especially in cases involving multiple parties.
