A 22-year-old father was arrested on January 22, 2025, for the alleged murder of his 17-month-old baby girl in Nelspruit. The father had taken the baby to the hospital on December 30, 2024, claiming she had fallen off a bed and sustained injuries. However, medical staff discovered that the toddler had already passed away, with multiple bruises and signs of strangulation on her body.¹
Hospital staff contacted the police to report the suspicious nature of the injuries. The father was initially arrested on a non-related case and has been in custody since. He is expected to appear in the Ermelo Magistrate's Court on January 23, 2025, in connection with the toddler's death.
