Lenasia, Johannesburg – In a shocking incident, Ashwin Mouwers, a key witness, was shot and killed outside the Lenasia Magistrate’s Court on the morning of 21 January 2025. Mouwers, who was anticipated to give evidence in a case, was shot four times by unknown assailants.
The incident occurred while Mouwers was smoking outside the court alongside another witness related to a 2021 Eldorado Park murder case. Two suspects approached and opened fire on them, targeting Mouwers in what appears to be a deliberate attack.
The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, and the police are actively searching for the suspects involved. The killing has raised serious concerns about the safety of witnesses in sensitive court cases.
Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in the investigation.
