Harrismith – Within 12 hours of the tragic murder of Nkosinathi Gambu, 23, the Harrismith police have arrested two suspects allegedly connected to the crime.
The incident occurred in the early hours of 26 January 2025 at the Dumping Site Section in the Intabazwe township near Harrismith. According to reports, Gambu was drinking with others when an argument over beer broke out. Sensing an escalation, Gambu attempted to leave the scene. However, one of the suspects pursued him and fatally stabbed him with a sharp object, inflicting severe wounds to his neck and back. Gambu collapsed on the ground as the suspect fled on foot.
Police promptly launched an investigation, initially failing to locate the suspect at his residence. Through further efforts, law enforcement managed to track down the suspect and apprehended his alleged accomplice, who may also be linked to the murder.
The suspects, aged 23 and 27, are facing charges of murder. They are expected to appear before the Harrismith Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 27 January 2025.
