The North West province has witnessed a significant victory in the fight against sexual offenses. On January 10, 2025, the Molopo Sexual Offences Regional Court handed down three life sentences to Fezile Zozi and one life imprisonment to Tebogo Matshidiso.¹

Zozi's crimes date back to 2010, 2021, and 2023, where he would volunteer to accompany his victims home, only to rape them. The prosecutor, Advocate Kefentse Diseko, emphasized the severity of the offenses and the violation of the victims' constitutional rights.

In a separate case, Tebogo Matshidiso was sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a woman in October 2021. The victim was hitchhiking when Matshidiso and another suspect offered her a lift, leading to the horrific crime.

The Director of Public Prosecution, Dr. Rachel Makhari, and the Acting Provincial Commissioner of North West, Major General Patrick Asaneng, welcomed the sentences, acknowledging the trauma caused to the victims. They praised the teamwork and collaboration among entities, ensuring justice for the victims and removing criminals from society.
