Police officers stationed at Beitbridge Port of Entry apprehended a foreign national attempting to cross the border from South Africa into Zimbabwe on the evening of 31 December 2024. The suspect was driving a black 2023 BMW G70 7 Series, valued at over R2 million.
The individual, carrying a South African passport, was stopped for a routine check. Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was flagged as wanted by a South African bank. The suspect claimed that the rightful owner of the car would arrive in South Africa on 1 January 2025.
The 40-year-old foreign national was arrested on charges of possessing a suspected stolen vehicle and presenting fraudulent documents to the South African Police Service (SAPS). The vehicle was seized as part of the investigation.
The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Musina Magistrate’s Court on 3 January 2025.
