In a dramatic shake-up within the Zulu Royal House, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has dismissed Prince Simphiwe Zulu of KwaMinyamanzi from all his royal assignments, citing neglect of duties and withholding crucial information. This decision comes as a shock, given the Prince’s long-standing loyalty and support for the King since his ascension to the throne in May 2021.
The King accused Prince Simphiwe of failing in his role as the royal spokesperson by ignoring media queries, leading to unbalanced reports that allegedly tarnished the Zulu nation's reputation. Additionally, he accused the Prince of withholding critical information from the Ingonyama Trust Board and other entities where he represented the King.
The Royal Office issued a formal communication, Ref No: 02-18/01/2025, to Dr. Nonhlanhla O. Mkhize, Director-General of the Office of the Premier KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government. In this letter, the King instructed the immediate withdrawal of all benefits and security detail previously assigned to Ms. Nomzamo Myeni. The King cited the cancellation of traditional wedding ceremonies involving Ms. Myeni as the reason for terminating her benefits and security arrangements.
The directive includes the cessation of any benefits, allowances, or privileges granted to Ms. Myeni and the withdrawal of her security detail by 11:00 AM on 19 January 2025. The King requested confirmation of these actions in writing and emphasized the need for prompt implementation.
This move underscores the King’s commitment to upholding the integrity and efficiency of the Zulu Royal House. As the Zulu nation awaits further developments, this decision marks a significant shift in the royal administration.
