Gauteng – A former officer of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) appeared today, 21 January 2025, in the Randburg Magistrates Court facing charges of corruption. The officer was served with a summons on 24 December 2024 at Randfontein.
The summons relate to two criminal cases registered at the Honeydew and Krugersdorp police stations in May 2023 and October 2024, respectively.
The charges against the former officer include corruption, theft, and defeating or obstructing the administration of justice. The suspect previously held the rank of Captain in the South African Police Service (SAPS) and served as an investigator at the West Rand Serious Organised Crime Investigation (SOCI) unit in Gauteng.
The cases have drawn significant attention due to the gravity of the allegations and the suspect's former role in a critical crime investigation unit.
