Rosendal police have confirmed that 85-year-old Kristan Free Mahlophe, who went missing on 21 January 2025, has been found safe and reunited with his family.

Mahlophe, a resident of Mautse near Rosendal, was last seen leaving home to monitor his livestock on a nearby farm, accompanied by his dog. While his dog returned home, Mahlophe did not, prompting widespread concern and a search operation.

Search Efforts

The search for Mahlophe involved members of the Visible Policing Unit (Vispol), local detectives, Community Police Forum members, and volunteers from the local community. Mahlophe was last seen wearing a scorch jersey, safari light shoes, and a brown cowboy hat.

Authorities used various platforms, including social media, to appeal for information about his whereabouts. Thanks to the widespread outreach, Mahlophe was spotted and located.
