WESTERN CAPE – A 15-year-old boy was sentenced to ten years direct imprisonment for murder, along with additional sentences for firearm-related offenses, by the Blue Downs Magistrates' Court on 28 January 2025.
Justice for Naeema Marshall
The sentencing comes after the accused shot and killed 14-year-old Naeema Marshall on 17 July 2023 in Kleinvlei, while she was visiting her aunt. The tragic incident occurred after Naeema allegedly refused to give the accused a kiss.

🔹 10 years – Murder
🔹 3 years – Illegal possession of a firearm
🔹 1 year – Illegal possession of ammunition
🔹 Sentences will run concurrently
Strong Police Investigation Leads to Conviction
The case was assigned to the Provincial Organized Crime and Anti-Gang Unit, who gathered crucial evidence and witness testimonies to secure the conviction. The accused was found guilty on 28 November 2024 and remained in custody throughout the trial.
