Scottburgh, KwaZulu-Natal – 15 December 2024 – A tragic incident in KwaZulu-Natal has left the country in shock after a man allegedly killed his girlfriend, shared a video discussing the incident, and was later found dead near the scene.
Incident Overview
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed that officers responded to reports of a murder in the Malangeni area near Umzinto. The body of a 25-year-old woman was discovered on a gravel road with multiple injuries, and a broken knife was located nearby.
Reports indicate the suspect, identified as Sibusiso Lawrence, allegedly picked up the victim from her home. A domestic dispute is believed to have escalated, resulting in the fatal incident.

Discovery of Suspect’s Body
Following the crime, police launched a manhunt for Lawrence. His body was later discovered hanging from a tree in a suspected suicide, a short distance from the location where the woman’s body was found.
Colonel Netshiunda stated:
“A man who was linked to the murder of a woman was found deceased on Wednesday morning during the police investigation. An inquest docket has been opened alongside the murder case.”
