Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) are currently investigating a shocking kidnapping incident involving a couple in Trenance Park, Phase 2B, KwaZulu-Natal.
Incident Details
According to reports, four men posing as police officers arrived at the couple’s residence, with one suspect notably wearing a jacket displaying the South African Police Service (SAPS) insignia.
- The suspects assaulted a female family member when their motives were questioned.
- Using a cellphone belonging to a 43-year-old male amputee, the suspects accessed his bank account and transferred R10,000. The victim had received this payout from the Road Accident Fund (RAF) two months prior following injuries sustained in a collision.
Kidnapping and Robbery
Before fleeing, the suspects attempted to steal a television but abandoned it upon noticing neighbors and pedestrians nearby.
- The suspects then carried the male victim down the stairs in his wheelchair and forced his 42-year-old wife to accompany them.
- They loaded the couple into a white Suzuki Ertiga (registration unknown) and fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Search Underway
RUSA Reaction Officers are currently conducting an intensive search for the kidnapped couple.
