Police have arrested one suspect in connection with a cash van robbery that took place in Mofolo North, at the corner of Elias Motsoaledi and Nxumalo Drive. An undisclosed amount of money was stolen during the heist.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, the cash van was forcibly stopped by suspects driving two Mercedes-Benz vehicles and a BMW.
"The suspects fired shots at the cash van, managed to seize the money, and later set one of the Mercedes-Benz vehicles on fire," said Col Nevhuhulwi.
Further investigations revealed that the burned Mercedes-Benz had been reported stolen in Kagiso.
During the operation, police arrested one suspect and recovered a stolen double-cab bakkie loaded with a motorcycle.
Ongoing Search for Suspects
Police are actively pursuing the remaining suspects involved in the robbery.
"Anyone with information that will assist the police with investigations is requested to contact the Crime Stop Line at 08600 10111," urged Col Nevhuhulwi.
The police continue their efforts to ensure the apprehension of the remaining suspects and the recovery of the stolen cash.
