[IN COURT FOR IMPREGNNATING A 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL] Ditebogo Frans Gololo, 28, appeared in Seshego Magistrates' Court on charges of sexual grooming of a minor and statuary rape; he is accused of impregnating a 13-year-old girl in Seshego township. The victim and the suspect allegedly met at a Seshego shopping complex in January 2024 and started talking until May 2024, at which point the minor only told her aunt about the incident after complications. Later, in November 2024, medical tests revealed she was eight months pregnant, and she gave birth to a boy on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024.On Thursday, December 26, 2024, the Seshego Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offenses Unit promptly detained the culprit after notifying the police of the event.
For instructions, the docket will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The case has been rescheduled for the Seshego Magistrate's Court on January 8, 2025, in order to allow for the application of bail and additional investigation.
Gololo is being held on remand.
