Police in Tongaat have arrested a man following a horrifying attack on his step-children.
On Thursday, a 7-year-old boy was brutally hacked with a panga and left for dead in a field. The child is currently in critical condition and receiving urgent medical care.
Amid the investigation, authorities discovered that the boy’s 3-year-old sibling was also missing. A search team was mobilized to locate the toddler, but efforts were called off late last night due to poor visibility.
The search resumed early today; however, it has been temporarily paused as the suspect is expected to assist police by pointing out the location where the child was abandoned. Search teams remain on standby, ready to act as the investigation progresses.
The police and search teams are urging the community to remain vigilant and assist with any information that could aid in the recovery of the missing child and the pursuit of justice for the victims.
