BOHLOKONG - A shocking incident has rocked the Bohlokong community in Phase Seven, where a 50-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the horrific murder of an 11-year-old girl from his neighborhood.
According to police reports, the tragedy unfolded on the morning of 29 December 2024. The suspect allegedly called the young girl to his home at around 10:20 and asked her to purchase cigarettes for him. After completing the errand and returning to his house, the girl unwittingly fell victim to his sinister intentions. It is believed that the suspect strangled and brutally killed her. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of sexual assault, pending the results of a postmortem examination.
The child’s lifeless body was discovered near the railway line with a deep wound on her neck, leaving the community in shock and mourning. A murder investigation is currently underway, with police determined to uncover all the details surrounding this heinous crime.
The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Bethlehem Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 02 January 2025, where he will face a charge of murder.
Free State Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving family, emphasizing the police’s commitment to justice. “Crimes against children are intolerable, and we will ensure that justice is served,” she said.
