A police officer and a civilian are at the center of an assault case following a heated altercation that escalated into violence at a barber shop in one of Rustenburg's malls on Saturday afternoon.
The incident, which reportedly started as an argument between the officer, the alleged assault victim, and several other individuals, quickly spiraled out of control.
The Incident
According to reports, after the initial altercation at the barber shop, one of the victims proceeded to the local police station to lodge a formal complaint against the officer.
However, matters allegedly escalated further when the police officer in question also arrived at the station. Eyewitnesses claim the officer confronted the complainant in the parking area and pursued him into the station premises, where he allegedly assaulted him.
The situation drew the attention of on-duty officers, who swiftly intervened to calm both parties and prevent further escalation.
