In a tragic incident, Constable Lesego Chuene Phefo, 28, allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend and her friend before turning the weapon on himself. The incident took place in the early hours at a residence in Itsoseng, Zone 2, around 03:30, where Constable Phefo reportedly found his girlfriend socializing with other men.
The constable, who was affiliated with the Mahikeng Public Order Policing Service (POPS), is accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend, Tlhalefo Setlhare, along with her friend, Vumile Gcuku. A third individual, Mojalefa Rakoma, was also shot, sustaining injuries, and was taken to the hospital for treatment. After the shooting, it is alleged that Constable Phefo took his own life.
