The Pretoria High Court has postponed the corruption and money laundering case against former Speaker of Parliament, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, to 5 December 2024. The hearing will address her application for further disclosures. While the State has provided the “A” section of the docket, which contains evidence, Mapisa-Nqakula is seeking access to the “B” and “C” sections, which include correspondence and the investigation diary. The State plans to oppose this application.
Mapisa-Nqakula faces 12 counts of corruption and one of money laundering. These charges stem from her time as Minister of Defense between 2016 and 2019, during which she allegedly solicited and received about R4.5 million from Nombasa Ntsondwa-Ndhlovu, a service provider to the department, with R2.1 million received in cash. Her R50,000 bail has been extended until her next court appearance.
