Drug Bust and Police Action in Moroka, Soweto

SOWETO - Three men, aged 28 to 33, were arrested by Moroka police in Danny Kekana Street for possessing drugs valued at an estimated R24,000. This arrest followed a community tip-off that alerted authorities to the suspects' activities.

According to initial investigations, police were conducting routine patrols when they received a report about alleged drug dealing. Upon swiftly responding, officers searched the premises and discovered a significant quantity of tablets, believed to be mandrax, hidden under a bed. The suspects are now in custody and will soon appear in court for charges of drug dealing and possession of suspected mandrax.

In a separate incident, the Moroka Trio Task Team faced a tense encounter in Rockville, Soweto, when six armed men, driving a white Hyundai Elantra, cornered their police vehicle. As two suspects approached, the officers tactically responded, prompting the suspects to flee on foot. Two were apprehended, and three replica firearms were recovered from the suspects and their abandoned vehicle.

Further investigation confirmed that the vehicle was hijacked. The suspects, aged 31 and 35, now face charges of possessing a hijacked vehicle and replica firearms. They will appear in court soon.
