The Hawks' Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit has arrested 42-year-old attorney, Michael Senotse Mabunda, following a summons related to a case filed at the Pretoria-North police station in August 2019.
Mabunda is accused of filing claims with the Road Accident Fund on behalf of clients. An amount of R10,562,173.21 was deposited into his trust account by the Fund. However, Mabunda allegedly failed to distribute these funds to his clients, resulting in significant financial losses for them.
He made his first appearance in the Pretoria Specialized Commercial Crimes Court on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. The case has been postponed until November 26, 2024, for further legal proceedings.
