Pretoria – A South African national and two Mozambican nationals have been arrested following the kidnapping of a Pakistani businessman and the murder of his business partner. The arrests come after an investigation led by SAPS organised crime, working in conjunction with intelligence.

The case stems from a violent business robbery that occurred on 27 August 2024 in Ennerdale, where two Pakistani business partners were attacked at their hardware store. Tragically, one of the men was killed at the scene, while the other was abducted. The kidnappers demanded a large ransom for the release of the surviving businessman.

On Sunday, 08 September 2024, law enforcement officials arrested the three suspects at various locations in Gauteng. During the arrests, the police successfully rescued the kidnapped victim from a residence in Lawley, reuniting him with his family.

According to the authorities, two of the suspects are currently in police custody, while the third, who sustained a gunshot wound during the arrest after attempting to disarm a police officer, is under guard in the hospital.

All three individuals are facing serious charges, including murder, kidnapping, and attempted murder.

Police continue to investigate the case, and more details are expected to emerge as the suspects await trial.
