33-Year-Old Foreign National Arrested in Polokwane for Stolen Vehicle and Immigration Violations

 A 33-year-old foreign national was arrested during an anti-smuggling operation in Polokwane on Friday, 20 September 2024. The suspect, a Zimbabwean national, was apprehended by the Limpopo SAPS Provincial Anti-Smuggling Task Team after a tip-off about a stolen vehicle destined for smuggling out of the country.


The suspect was driving a white Toyota


Fortuner on the N1 road near Peter Mokaba Stadium. Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Alberton, Gauteng, just two days earlier, on 18 September 2024.


Limpopo Police Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, praised the team for their swift action and recovery of the stolen vehicle. The suspect is set to appear in Polokwane Magistrate's Court on 23 September 2024, facing charges of possession of a presumed stolen vehicle, contravention of the immigration act, and driving without a valid driver's license. Investigations are ongoing.
