The South African Police Service (SAPS) anti-kidnapping task team recently made a significant breakthrough in Gauteng? They managed to rescue a Zimbabwean businessman who was kidnapped near his workplace by a group of criminals. Not only that, but they also arrested a total of fourteen kidnappers, including three Chinese nationals and two Mozambicans.

The task team, along with other units within the SAPS and private security partners, located the kidnapped victim safe and alive in Diepkloof, Soweto. They also traced and apprehended the fourteen kidnappers at various locations, recovering items such as multiple speed point machines, a large sum of cash withdrawn from the victim’s bank account, and even two firearms, including one stolen during a house robbery in Linden in 2023.

This success is part of a larger effort by the SAPS to crack down on kidnapping syndicates targeting businessmen for ransom. The community has been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to support the fight against these criminals.
