The City of Cape Town is addressing weather-related impacts due to persistent rainfall across the metropole. Many rivers and canals are at capacity, with some bursting their banks. The Roads Department is working to address blockages of the stormwater system, but the sheer amount of rain has complicated the situation. Humanitarian relief agencies are assisting with soft relief in various areas, including Khayelitsha, Lwandle, Nomzamo, Gugulethu, Philippi, Masiphumelele, Philippi East, Mfuleni, Tafelsig, and Vygieskraal.

The South African Weather Service (Saws) has extended Level 6 disruptive rain and Level 4 damaging winds until Thursday, with a Level 8 warning for disruptive rain and a Level 6 warning for damaging waves. The City of Cape Town's Disaster Risk Management is on high alert for adverse weather to hit on Sunday. Residents are advised to contact the SPCA for animals in distress and the City's Public Emergency Call Centre for emergencies. The South African Weather Service (Saws) is also providing updates on the weather.
