Renowned singer Rethabile Khumalo is currently fighting for her life in the hospital after an alleged poisoning incident. Her mother, Winnie Khumalo, a well-known singer, revealed on Instagram that Rethabile has undergone three surgeries and remains in critical condition.
Winnie shared that Rethabile was poisoned by a supposed friend and has been in the hospital for the past week. "So I thought I would keep quiet until my daughter is okay. She is fighting for her life. She has been poisoned by a so-called friend. They have already done three operations on her, and we are hoping that Rethabile will soon recover, but at the moment, akukho kuhle [It’s not looking good]," Winnie stated.
Winnie has called on fans and supporters to keep Rethabile in their prayers during this challenging time. "It has been six days now in the hospital… So I decided it’s only fair to share this sad news with her supporters… She has been on and off… When you pray, please include her in your prayers," she said, highlighting the emotional strain on the family.
In a heartfelt plea to her daughter, Winnie urged Rethabile to keep fighting for the sake of her young son: "Fight, your son needs you. We all do." The family plans to report the incident to the police.
The news has led to an outpouring of support from fans and fellow celebrities. Nhlanhla Mafu, DJ Fresh, and Lerato Mvelase, among others, have expressed their well-wishes on social media. Sdumo Mtshali wrote, "Get better soon, speedy recovery. God bless you," while another supporter, Howard, added, "By His stripes, we are healed. I pray God quickens your faith in Him and that you find comfort."
This incident occurred shortly after Rethabile released her new single, "Egalile." Despite the tough circumstances, the music community and her fans remain hopeful for her swift and full recovery.
