High Court of South Africa: State vs Duduzile Cyntia Myeni and Trevor Mathenjwa
A significant case is currently before the High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Local Division, Johannesburg, involving two accused individuals, Duduzile Cyntia Myeni and Trevor Mathenjwa. The case number is combined indictment and summary of substantial facts in terms of Section 144(3)(a) of Act 51 of 1977.
After consultation with the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Investigating Director, appointed in terms of Section 13(1)(b) of Act 32 of 1998, is prosecuting the case on behalf of the State. The accused are facing charges of corruption, contravening Section 10(a) read with Sections 1, 2, 24, 25, 26(1)(a) of the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act 12 of 2004, and further read with Section 269A of the Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977.

The prosecution is presenting substantial evidence to prove the guilt of the accused beyond a reasonable doubt. The court will carefully consider the evidence and arguments presented by both the prosecution and defense before delivering a verdict.
Update: The case has been postponed to November 21, 2024, due to Dudu Myeni's hospitalization with a pulmonary embolism. The State will make an application to have the case transferred to Gauteng as the majority of the case's witnesses live in the province.
