The ANC has secured an early lead in the Eastern Cape as the count of votes exceeded 10% on Thursday morning. At 8am, results from 2,335 of the 23,293 national voting districts were in. Nationally, the ANC had 42.30% of the vote, followed by the DA with 26.34% and the EFF with 8.1%.
In the Eastern Cape, 128 of the 4,868 voting districts had reported, with the ANC at 70.73%, the DA at 10.25%, and the EFF at 9.19%. The MK Party, a newcomer, had secured 1.9% of the vote provincially, just below the UDM at 2.07%..
