A 20-year-old man from Limpopo is set to appear in the Lulekani Magistrate's Court after allegedly sexually assaulting a 73-year-old woman in Majeje village. The incident occurred on Friday, April 26, at around 3am. The victim was sleeping when the suspect intruded her house and threatened to kill her if she screamed.
The suspect then strangled her, undressed himself, and sexually assaulted her. The victim bit his finger and fled the scene. The suspect was traced and arrested on the spot. The Limpopo police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, praised the swift arrest of the suspect. The suspect will make his first court appearance on the charges.
Meanwhile, a 58-year-old Tanzanian man was arrested for attempting to smuggle dagga worth over R1 million at the Groblersbrug port of entry in Limpopo. Police received a tip-off and the man was arrested on Saturday.
