37-year-old Ramit Anee Rudh is being sought for the attempted murder, kidnapping, and robbery of his 34-year-old wife in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal. The victim, whose identity is being withheld for safety reasons, contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for assistance in locating her husband and two accomplices.
According to the victim's account, on Wednesday (13/03/2024), Rudh lured his wife into accompanying him to an isolated location under the guise of fetching documents from an attorney. Once there, a man identified as Kyle Clayton, along with another unidentified male, dragged her out of the vehicle and began strangling her with a rope, under Rudh's instructions.
After losing consciousness, the victim woke up in a sugar cane plantation in Ifafa, approximately 45 kilometers from Amanzimtoti. She was found in the front seat of a silver Opel Corsa, driven by Clayton, who appeared to be in contact with Rudh throughout the ordeal.
In a desperate attempt to escape, the victim jumped from the moving vehicle, sustaining injuries in the process. She was later rescued by passersby and taken to safety.
The victim later discovered that R34 000 in cash had been stolen from her, along with a further R300 transferred via E-Wallet during her captivity. She believes her own money was used to pay the suspects to kill her.
Since the incident, the victim has received threats from unknown individuals warning her against pursuing the matter further.
A criminal case (126/03/2024) has been registered with the Amanzimtoti SAPS, but the suspects remain at large, evading the authorities.
