The Equalizer 3 is set to release in the UK on October 14, marking the third and final installment in Denzel Washington's action trilogy.

The film follows Robert McCall, who has retired from his career as a government assassin and lives in southern Italy. He discovers his new friends are under the control of the local Mafia and decides to protect them by taking on the criminal organization. Dakota Fanning's CIA agent Emma is also brought in to help. The film set a new box office record for the trilogy's opening weekend and received better reviews than its predecessors, receiving a 75% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Equalizer 3 director, Antoine Fuqua, has revealed that he never intended to bring back characters from previous films. The final installment of the action trilogy, starring Denzel Washington as retired US marine Robert McCall, has been released in cinemas. Fuqua stated that he always intended to tell separate stories across the films, not checking in with past characters like Chloë Grace Moretz's Alina or Johnny Skourtis' Ralphie. Alina, also known as Teri, and Ralphie, a security guard trained by McCall, both appear in the first installment. After McCall tracks down and kills the leaders of the crime syndicate, Alina becomes free to start a new life. The film has broken box office records and landed the highest Rotten Tomatoes rating in the franchise. Fuqua also discussed the challenges of shooting in Italy, stating that the language and the Amalfi Coast were challenging but ultimately worth it.

Digital Spy's review gave the film three stars out of five, stating that the threequel "ties up [Robert McCall's] story in quite a gratifying way." The film is available for purchase and rental in the US and will be available in the UK on October 14.
