Cristiano Ronaldo confirms his continuous service to Al-Nasir and Portugal

Cristiano Ronaldo, a renowned football player, has shown his versatility in other sports. He is currently on international duty with Portugal ahead of their upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Slovakia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ronaldo has already scored 11 goals in as many games for Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr this season and will be looking to carry that form into the international break.

Ronaldo has enjoyed a superb Euro 2024 qualifying campaign with Portugal so far, scoring five goals in as many games. His team is on the cusp of booking their place at the tournament in Germany next year. A win over Slovakia and a loss for Luxembourg against Iceland would guarantee Portugal's spot at the tournament.

Ronaldo has reportedly set his sights on competing not only at the Euros but at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. According to Spanish publication Cadena COPE, Ronaldo has told Al Nassr that he would like to sign a contract extension through to 2027, when he will be in his early forties. That deal would allow him on the final shot at winning the World Cup, the one major trophy that has so far alluded him.

Ronaldo had previously indicated that he would retire from international football after next summer’s European Championship. However, if he extend his football career until “early 2027”, when he will be 41, Ronaldo would have another shot at claiming a World Cup, the one major trophy that has so far alluded the Portuguese great.

In July, Ronaldo announced plans to extend his career to 2024 at the very least, insisting he still had something to prove. He believes that at 38-and-a-half years old, he will continue to enjoy football and continue to set an example of longevity.
