Another Fake Doctor, Kingsley Leeto Chele, Escapes Custody: Manhunt Intensifies in Tshwane District

PS Lyttleton launches a search operation after accused fraudster flees from police custody

In a shocking turn of events, notorious Facebook con artist Kingsley Leeto Chele escaped from lawful custody on 11 October 2023, sending law enforcement agencies in the Tshwane district on a manhunt. Chele, who was arrested on 2 October 2023 for scamming women out of their hard-earned money by posing as a doctor and pharmacist on social media, managed to flee while the police were cataloging his household items.

Chele, who operated under various aliases including Dr. Kingsley Chele and Dr. KJ Ncube, targeted health professionals on Facebook, tricking them into investing in nonexistent projects. He was apprehended after two cases of fraud were registered in Sunnyside and Klipgat in June 2023. His bail was denied, and he was remanded in custody until his next court appearance scheduled for 17 October 2023.

The investigating officer of the case, Captain Motolla, has enlisted the help of the asset forfeiture unit to trace and attach Chele's properties believed to be acquired through his fraudulent activities, including a 2023 VW Golf GTI.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has registered a case of escape from lawful custody at SAPS Honeydew. The community is urged to assist law enforcement in locating Chele. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is requested to contact the Investigating Officer, Captain Motolla, at 082 715 9583 or to report anonymously to Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

"We are dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of our community. We urge anyone with information to come forward, helping us apprehend this individual and bring him to justice," said a spokesperson for PS Lyttleton.

Law enforcement agencies have advised the public to exercise caution while engaging with unknown individuals online and to verify the credentials of anyone soliciting investments or donations. Social media users are encouraged to report suspicious activities to the respective platforms and local authorities.

As the manhunt for Kingsley Leeto Chele intensifies, residents are reminded to remain vigilant and cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies to aid in his swift capture. Reports by SAPS
