A Cape Town taxi strike has escalated into violence, resulting in tragic consequences. According to a report by News 24, the strike has led to two fatalities and left three individuals injured. The catalyst for the strike is a dispute between the South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) and the City of Cape Town over taxi impoundments. This clash of interests has led to an ongoing strike that has persisted for several days, causing significant inconvenience to commuters and the general public alike.

One of the fatalities occurred on Airport Approach Road, where an altercation ensued between motorists and individuals who were reportedly pelting vehicles with stones. In response, shots were fired, resulting in one person losing their life and three others sustaining injuries.
