Thabo Bester, a fugitive and convicted murderer-rapist, and his lover Nandipha Magudumana have been escorted back into South Africa from Tanzania.
The pair, together with a Mozambican national, was apprehended on their way from Arusha to the Kenyan border around Easter.
Bester and Magudumana, who have been on the run since escaping their R12 million Hyde Park house in March, landed on a specially chartered jet at Johannesburg's Lanseria airport.
SAPS police ministry spokeswoman Lirandzu Themba stated on Wednesday that police Minister Bheki Cele and justice minister Ronald Lamola would inform the country of Bester and Magudumana's deportation proceedings on Thursday.
Dr. Nandipha is scheduled to appear in court shortly on probable accusations of obstructing justice, aiding and abetting a fugitive, and murder.
Bester is also likely to face more charges with his audacious jail escape.
