Habeeb Okikiola, nicknamed Portable, a popular Nigerian artist, was charged in a court in south-western Ogun state on six counts of assault-related allegations on Monday, which he rejected.
The "Zazoo Zeh" singer has been granted bail after spending the weekend in police custody.
According to reports, the rapper and musician resisted arrest and insulted cops who arrived to capture him last week.
He later surrendered to authorities, which was caught in a viral video last week.
A police spokeswoman informed BBC Pidgin that they had requested the musician to talk with them more than five times, but he had refused each time.
