Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal - In a shocking development, two suspects have been arrested in connection with the mass shooting that resulted in the death of ten family members in Imbali township, Pietermaritzburg. The South African Police Service (SAPS) acted swiftly on leads and intelligence provided by community members. They arrested two suspects and engaged in a shootout with the remaining two suspects. One of the suspects was shot dead, and the other is still at large.
According to police reports, the ten victims were ambushed and killed by armed men who stormed into their home. Seven females and three males were among the deceased, with the youngest being a 13-year-old boy.
The police recovered three firearms at the scene and are still searching for the fourth suspect. The motive for the attack remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.

Police Minister, General Bheki Cele, and the top management of the South African Police Service (SAPS) have commended the swift action taken by the police and urged more communities to come forward with information that could assist in apprehending the remaining suspects.
