The lion was sighted early Wednesday morning, according to Arthur Crewe of the Strategic Reaction Rescue Unit (SRU).
"A security response officer spotted the lion at 02:00 on the R511 close the Hennopstrail in Gauteng. "We had a second sighting, so it's a lion," Crewe adds.
He added: "We want to get this lion back safely. That is our number one goal. We actively look for the animal and ask residents not to shoot or approach it if they spot it. Also read: If you spot the lion, contact Arthur Crewe at SRU at 083 703 7399."
Thus, going out quite a risk for civilians because the Big Cats whereabouts are unknown.
What could be happening with these persisting updates about escaped wild cats? A week ago a lion escaped while being transported Leeubosch Game Farm but was quickly located and killed.
