Two officers from the South African Police Service (SAPS) were taken into custody in Mpumalanga, following reports of their involvement in transporting illegal weaponry for a suspected planned cash-in-transit (CIT) robbery. The shocking episode unfolded on the N4 Kaalrug road, where a high-speed chase and shootout ensued between the officers involved.

The unfolding drama saw three police personnel allegedly using a BMW flying squad police vehicle to transport an array of firearms. This led to a dramatic pursuit and gunfire exchange between the law enforcement individuals. Thanks to the swift action of provincial organized crime unit members, two of the officers were successfully apprehended, while one managed to evade capture.
During the operation, a significant cache of firearms was seized, including AK47 rifles, R5 rifles, Dashprot rifles, DM4 rifles, and a 9mm pistol. Notably, this particular 9mm pistol has been linked to a prior CIT heist that occurred in Malelane, Mpumalanga.
